Heavy front end
« on: 11.07. 2023 01:44 »
Maybe a silly question. I have a 1961 A10. It seems very heavy in the front end and quite hard to push around and manoeuvre when parking. Seems ok when riding. Is this a problem? Mark

G'day Mark
Low tyre pressure, too tight steering damper/steering head bearings and/or brake adjusted too tight.
Both my 51 & 57 are easy.

Have you raised the front end off the ground and checked the things Musky mentioned? When removing the front wheel I usually put a piece of wood under the centre stand and use a trolley jack under the sump until the back wheel just makes contact with the garage floor.

Is it the correct front end ?
Anthing from a C15 to a A65 or B/M series will fit in the steering stem but shorter forks will also make it heavier to psh because it alters the centre of balance closer to th front wheel .

More to the point, what are you comparing it to?
"Heavy" is subjective.
