BSA A10 1960 Spitfire Scrambler Exhaust Fit
« on: 03.07. 2023 21:51 »
Hi, I am in the final stages of my Spitfire Scrambler restoration and am at the point of fitting new high level exhaust pipes. They seem to be a poor fit, especially the timing side one. It seems as if the bend into the head isn't quite tight enough and as such, the alignment with the other pipe is way off.  Has anyone got any advice or experience in overcoming this problem.
Many thanks
Gary

The first thing to do is to try to send them back. I believe that any attempt at re-bending will disform them. If you've accepted that disforming them is OK, I suppose there is a variety of options.

G'day Gary.
If sending them back isn't an option (had them for years, overseas purchase). I'd take it/them to a local exhaust/muffler shop and see if they can tweak them.
Cheers

If they're SS a little hacksaw cut, bend, and weld?

Thanks fellas. I have had them a while before I started the restoration so sending them back isn't an option now. I feared I may have to get them tweaked. Thanks again.

I don't know about Australia but if you took the pipes to one of the UK high street exhaust/tyre fitting places you would probably get blank looks. 🤔
