Correct fuel line (or pipes)

My '59 A10 SR has always had clear fuel line with the braid. My father bought the bike new and that's what it came with. I know the Dealer and his brother were very involved in racing. They brazed a band around the clutch basket as well as brazed the clutch disc retaining studs to the basket and a few other modifications. People at shows tell me that the line should either be clear (without braid) or solid black. I can't seem to find anything to really support either. I see both types for sale as replacement. I'm guessing this could be something that the Dealer changed before it was sold. Any input on original line would be greatly appreciated.

The commonly available clear hose, with or without braid, is not very good. It goes hard and can crack.
Black rubber petrol injection hose is ok.

Most of it does because of the alcohol. It's not kind to anything it touches. I'd like to know what the bike originally came with, clear or black.
