Someone suggested shaving the head to make the bike go faster.I did that; no improvement in speed, but my ears were much colder.

I'd suggest raising the compression. The standard pistons on a Golden Flash are what 6.5:1-7:1? I have 9:1 in my Super Rocket and without going all big valve or hot cam you could probably get some value out of bigger jets with higher compression otherwise you're just likely to run rich on full throttle.
