My only other bike I've had for about 10 years, every year for the last 8 I say Im getting something more "age appropriate", then I take it out and the sale gets postponed for another year. Just the best fun, superb handling, bucket loads of torque, and the noise is just joyous.

It does play havoc with my arthritis though.

G'day Fellas.
I also have a 2000 Ex Honda Australia CBR929RR race bike. Doubt I'll be able to ride it even with the new hip. Pegs too high, bars too low.

I've got a few "moderns" but this one is my favourite. Had it from new in 1994, 949cc of pure torque.


A question to Brian, what is it about Guzzis? The owners buy them and keep them forever, there must be something special about them?


My modern is a Yamaha TDM900 from 2011 which I bought new and have grown really attached to. The engine is a vertical twin with a 270 crank which a lot of manufacturers are now building.
I recently bought a Honda NX650, which is my first ADV bike and has been fantastic.

My Most modern bike is a 2020 Beta 300RR that get regular use all over the place, road legal but pretty crap to cover any distance on it

The next  most "modern" is a 1998 Suzuki RMX250 then the 1984 Yamaha IT200, I don't have a modern road bike as such but there's a 1982 Yamaha XJ550 in the queue somewhere

In reply to Tomcat, I dont know ! Its hard to explain but they have something about them that you either "get" or you dont. Guzzi's have an unusually high amount of owners who have owned them for many years and done very high mileage, not uncommon to find a Guzzi owner who has owned the same bike for 30 or 40 years. I have had my 1000S for 29 years and it will be the last bike to leave my shed. They are a very easy bike to live with if you are mechanically minded, you can do all your own work with basic tools, look and sound great, will do exceptionally high mileage without needing major work, amongst Guzzi owners 100,000k's is considered "just run in". I have two others, a 1983 MK111 LeMans and a 2015 V7. The LeMans has a very harsh riding position, these days I can only do shorter rides of around 2 or 3 hundred k's, any more and the back just cant take it. Terrible bike around town or in slow riding situations but get out on the highway and at plus 120kph or so and its simply the best bike I have ever ridden. The modern V7 is a good all round bike, a lot lighter and easier to live with than the bigger ones.

Me too. From the very first V7 Sport (yes that lime green one) I saw -must have been around 1971, I've fancied one, but somehow never got it.
Such a clever logical engineering layout. The Honda CX, in spite of being fat, overweight, and ugly as sin shares that layout to good effect,,, very strong performance for a 500. (But like your mother-in-law you wouldn't invite it into bed).  *pull hair out*

I quite like the MGS01 Guzzis. They are expensive and not able to be registered, still, it would look good in the lounge room.
