Our Moderns
« on: 21.04. 2023 09:37 »
I opened this topic as I reckon many forum members have 'modern' motorcycles.

Have I mentioned that I have a new Gold Star🤔?

Before I had both knee's replaced I bought a couple of electric start moderns. A 1990 Yamaha Virago 535 and a 2009 350 Bullet. Both good bikes but rarely used now I'm fit again. Virago does what it says but a little bland. The Bullet, well, its a Bullet, I already have 2 Redditch Bullets and a bsa with a Redditch fury engine but at the time needed a electric leg.

i have a mixture as well, the one i use the most is the Guzzi V7 special which is a 2018 bike, had it from almost new, it was an ex demonstrator with 400 miles on the clock, the little guzzi (monza) has not had much use of late but its just about to be classed as historic so that will be back on the road shortly, i also have a 2014 Yamaha SR 400 single, which is kick start only, nice light bike to put in the van when me and the girlfriend go on trips, the 2 brit bikes do get used but not that much, its much easier to jump on the Guzzi and press the button.

My modern bike is a Ducati Sport Classic Sport 1000. Bought it new in 2008. It's been a fun bike but is currently up for sale.

My other modern-ish (it's all relative right?) is a '73 Honda CL350.

G'day Fellas.
My youngest is 1988 HD FXST, then the 1983 CB1100F and a 1978 XT500. All 5 bikes on club (Historic) rego. The HD gets the most use for trips, the XT for local blats. Can't ride the rHonda, I hope to be able once I get the new hip. Same for the Cafe.
Cheers

I've got a few "moderns" but this one is my favourite. Had it from new in 1994, 949cc of pure torque.

I only have one  *sad2* but I still love it.  I wanted a Deauville when I was working in Hull. I thought I would use it for commuting.  I bought it just as my job came to an end.  Lucky really. The Deauville was cheap and I found out why. Shock seized, swinging arm seized, rear wheel bearing shot and forks leaking oil.

All sorted now and dispite it being a bit of a heavy brute I use it all the time.

My oldest modern is a 1980 CX500Custom witha more modern front end which i am now in the process of putting back to nearly standard but with a twin disc CX front end, then my next oldest modern is my XJR1200 with a retro front end from a FZR1000 EXUP USD and then my newest modern is my Tiger 800 XC with Tiger Roadie wheels, though this is an old picture before the rear was changed, so no need for tubes.

I've bought the Eurotunnel tickets for next weekends John Bull rally in Belgium so it looks like I'm actually doing it😜

Carrier update. I've braced the carrier to the mudguard stays. I gave my ancient top box a coat of paint and attached it.
When me and Janet were young and only had a motorcycle we would put our Fox Terrier dog in that box to take her to the park. 🐕

I bought a clock for the bike and fitted it in the centre of the bars.
