LED turn signal hyperflash and DVR2

 Mounted LED turn signals on the bike, and they hyperfash.

 Bike is 12 volts, regulator is DVR2.

 When the bike is not running, the signals work perfectly.

 When I run the bike is when things go sideways.

 I installed load resistors on each light, 8 Ohms. I should be pulling 1.3 amps or a little more on each bulb. This did not help at all.

 I have bought 3 different "LED turn relays", but no help. Still Hyperflashes when the bike is running.

 I ran a small capacity battery because I never drive at night, and the generator was easily able to keep up.

 So I put a larger 8 Ah battery in thinking that may help, no change.

 Because they work perfectly off just the battery, I dont know if I need to filter the DVR2 output, or add even more load or what to do here.

Anyone else have problems like this?

I'm no sparky but one question. Are you running electronic ignition? The only thing I can think of that would make a difference when running.

Hello Musky,

 Long time since I have been hanging around.

 Nope, K2f and still a one kick bike.

 Dicided to do this because i near got T-Boned by a driver who thought a "turning left" hand signal was just me having a siezure. That van blasted by me at about 40 mph, could not have been more than 4 inches of room.

 I really believe he sped up thinking I has telling him to pass me.

 So time for some signals.

When I put a set of led indicators on my Mille, they all came on at the same time (4 ways) until I took out the dash repeater light. Apparently there was enough current bleeding through the repeater to set the other side off. So I took out the repeater bulb on the dash and all works great, except whenever i go out I have to have someone follow me now to tell me Im a dick and that my Indicators are still on.
I doubt this helps but I do like to join in.

 Thanks for the thoughts Minto, your joining in is greatly appreciated. 

It sound like you need 2 diodes in your circuit,  think of them as 1 way gates for electricity on your bike.

If you are still interested in a dash light, let me know and i will draw a real quick sketch.

Do the flashers behave the same when the engine is running with the dynamo disconnected?

I don’t suppose you have interference suppression in the ignition high tension (spark plugs or plug caps). Maybe you need some.  Do the indicator leads run close to ignition leads or charging system leads?

How “small” is the battery, in amp hours?

it does sound like interference, i know a digital multi meter does not work with a bike running and a magneto fitted, gives some very weird results and not very stable. maybe some shielded cables might do the trick.

I went through everything we had talked about and discovered that if I removed the cut off wire from the magneto 95% of the hyperflash went away.

 The wire was routed along the backbone with the LED wires because my kill switch is on the handle bars.

 Now I either route the wire under the engine and up the down tubes next to the horn wires, or I figure out a different kill switch location.
