New old guy from Kent Island MD…
« on: 19.02. 2023 03:24 »
Hey there, just got my A10 back that I originally bought as boxes of parts for $50 in 1975. This was a friend’s failed attempt at building a “chopper”. Eventually I built it as a “cafe racer” and kept it for 32 years when I traded it to my oldest friend for a Harley Davidson Sportster. In his shop “Hawgpen Cycles” he transformed it into a gorgeous custom “bobber”, completely rebuilt inside and out with hand fabricated springer and hardtail. Recently I traded a classic car for it and now it’s back home in my shop…

 *welcome*

It's nice that you got your old friend back again. The style is not to my taste but each to their own.

Nice to see an old friend again. Looks like it goes well and I have a bobbed ‘70 A65 Thunderbolt I like very much. Makes for a different ride.

G'day rustydusty.
What a great story. Looks like a lot of work has gone into her.
What model was she originally? RR, SR, BVSR, SS ?
Cheers

She started life as a “Super Rocket”, but was altered, and missing so many original parts it would have been cost prohibitive to try and restore it…
This is more my style as I’ve spent decades building hot rods.

First, Welcome *welcome*. Do you go by "Rusty," "Dusty," or is that just the condition of everything else you have that doesn't happen to be this nice looking chopper? I already commented on your "Just a Picture," so it should be clear I like it and would happily ride it, even though my own A7 and A10 are mostly standard.

Y’know, back in the day, my first inclination would have been to build it back to stock, but so many parts weren’t original that I decided to build a “cafe” style bike (this was in 1975). Eventually I found an original style set of forks, front wheel and front fender. Here is a pic from around 1978…
