Carb advice required! To Wassel or not?

Afternoon!
Once again in search of knowledge / wisdom!
1961 A10 Golden Flash, never had troubles running but concerned no choke and fuel leak on float cover.
Recently replaced carbs on my '72 Commando with a pair of Wassels' immediate difference, tempted to do so on my A10 also.
Been stood up for a while, never had a choke fitted, just tickle and go, but leaking extended float chamber cover is making me think about a change, especially as cork gasket is smeared with instant gasket!.
Fitted carb is Amal 389/17, been advised that Wassel 928 is direct swap, has choke slide included so would fit lever and cable to use choke to treat it a tad better on startup.
Is this a worthwhile swap? Does Concentric in place of monobloc make any difference? Worthwhile change?    *conf*
Thoughts please?

Just a couple of personal observations.
I've never seen the point of an extended fuel bowl. Gimmick (in my view).
As for velocity stacks, I remember one hill climb in the 70's when my engine just didn't seem to be happy. I was one away from the start line so, with engine running, I unscrewed the stack and threw it in the road. Engine immediately ran cleaner - I've never used a stack of any sort since.

Received Net wisdom is that the Wassel jobs aren't too good quality-wise, though I've no personal experience.
However, I have had several Amal Premier carbs and I can't praise them enough. Anodised slide, removable pilot jet etc etc so they would be my recommendation.

Hello, a leak could be cured with a good clean and an original float chamber cover and a new gasket. Choke kit from Burlens comes with a new choke slide , spring and brass tube, there are kits for 389 and 376  and im told they are different .Then cables on ebay ?  if that helps Cheers dave

G'day Snowy.
I agree with all replies so far.
I just put a Amal Premier on my plunger. A mile better than the old mk1 concentric. It is a tad longer and taller than the old mono. Well worth the expense.

Used a Wassel concentric copy on a B44 I had with excellent results but have to say I wouldn't put one on my A10 unless it was a Monobloc copy. Part of the look of the machine also a very restorable carb. I put a hard anodized slide in mine (a 376) and a new needle jet and haven't looked back.
