Piston rings
« on: 09.02. 2023 05:58 »
Does anyone know of a retailer that sells piston rings by size rather than for a specific model? I'm after some rings for my 1929 AJS M6. Piston diameter is 2.905" / 73.8mm (it doesn't seem to be a specific fraction). The present rings are 0.06" thick and 0.1" wide.
Cheers

G'day Tim.
You will need to know the bore size, ring thickness and radial depth. Radial depth is most important. Cox & Turner sound good. I don't know of anyone down here.

Thanks Groily. I haven't spoken to them yet, but from their website (Cox and Turner), they certainly look like they should be able to help. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers

Cheers Musky, I've got the measurements so I'm hoping they can help - I'm just dreading the postage, which is painful from the UK at the moment. I was recently quoted GBP 22 for post and packing on one of the little "J Lucas, King of the road" badges for the AJS Magdyno - I reckon it would weigh about 5grams! (No I didn't buy it - I'll just keep my eyes open).
Cheers

I just told Cox & Turner to send my A7 rings by Royal Mail, I rarely worry about tracking and signatures, came quite quickly and at a reasonable cost.
