Fully detached

This is a still from a comedy film. I've been told that this happened to a great aunt of mine many years ago. They were going down Boxley Hill in Kent when the sidecar detached from the bike! I understand that my relative was not seriously hurt.

I've seen a few old B&W movies where the bike and chair have parted company and rejoined.

G'day Fellas.
Had a laugh at those but I still can't find the one I want. I think it was a early black & white, can't remember if it had sound.
G&M had a few different opening scenes with the sidecar.

worty's engine is the only fully detached pieces of metal i have ever had to deal with, see worty's engine strip for that.  but it will be attached once more , for how long i don't know but i would risk it for a biscuit

I always love those "funny "scenes designed by people who have never owned a bike with a chair.
It is near impissibe for the chair & frame to part companwith the bike.
Any one who has ever tried to fit one would know this
However the chair parting company with the frame was in fact not uncommon particularly on the models with unsprung wheels and sprung chair.
The BSA "Launch" chair was in fact designed to be removed and used as a canoe
However it is relative easy to slip a wheel under the chair frame so it carries on down the road & a lot more difficult to have it launch likea javelin safely .
