Stunning, but what the actual hell were they thinking with that F ugly exhaust system? I realise the headers have to clear the frame but bugger me that’s crap! And that catastrophe of a silencer, well!

Actually, I thought it looked quite nice - though not really my cup o' tea. What struck me more is the connection with Rolex* watches - it's the name, not the quality, that sells. IMHO neither the engine nor frame warrant the adulation they get.
* one of my boat-owning customers was a watchmaker - you wouldn't want to hear his comments on rolex construction.

Never heard any negativity regarding Rolex watches either, but I'm all ears.
I'd hate to think my 1924 Oyster is going to fail sometime soon.

Thought what I wrote was self-explanatory. I'll have another go:
The thrust of my comment was that with both the Norton frame and Vincent twin engine, the adulation they get is more because of the name than any tangible operational excellence. I used Rolex as an example, simply because their cost is way beyond their actual value - ie the value of the gold case as bullion plus a fiver for the movement (which, as alluded to in my prior post, is - according to people who work on watches - nothing special other than being a pig to work on). In the case of stainless cases, true value (cost of manufacture) would probably struggle to exceed a tenner. Of course, the same applies to many products, not just watches. We know a pair of jeans cost under a quid to make - stick on a fancy label and add a couple of noughts. Same with handbags, fancy trainers etc etc etc ......

We are constantly bombarded by hype and marketing. The fact we are on this forum would seem to prove that we are not influenced by that BS.

First, I'll get this out of the way. I think the pipes are art and look beautiful. As they say, art is in the eye of the beholder (a very under-appreciated truth).

 As for the overall bike, i highly doubt the builder had a nice Rapide or Black Prince (I don't know what engine) sitting around annoying him and decided to take the engine out and slam it in a Triumph frame. Clearly, he had an engine that needed a practical and affordable home and executed the transplant very well, and well beyond my own patience, budget and, maybe, skills.

I can explain the Rough Superior....it's French, though if I remember correctly aren't those modern remaking of Vincents (Godin, Godet, something like that?) also French?
They have that awful bendy dogs-willy exhaust design too. *eek*
