There is no BSA advert in the book;  I guess in 1947 BSA needed no help selling their machines.

Interesting GB. My copy, 7th edn, published in 1961 by Iliffe Books Ltd (exactly 30 years after the first edition) only contains 2 ads - a full page for Triumph, and a full page for Burman, at the end, after the index. Mine was 6/6d when I bought it new aged about 14, and it says on the hard front cover - which shows an AMC twin having one of its separate cylinders being removed or refitted - 'over 188,000 copies sold'. The back cover advertises other books in the Motor Cyclist's Library collection published for The Motor Cycle by Iliffe. A useful little book, as we have both said before on here I think.

Does your later copy update the information or does it still show someone working on girder forks?

Significant differences in the pix and their quality (reduced) in the later one GB.
Only pic of any forks is in chapter 18 headed 'Checking Alignment', where the one frame illustrated is a rigid with teles - I think G3 Matchless at a guess. No photos included in mine, just line drawings.
Prelim pages to ix, then pp1 to 140 divided into 21 chapters, then the 2 ads. Best chapter for me is 'Is It Worn Out?' Gives the lie to a lot of bar-room pedantry / gives me an excuse not to replace things willy-nilly - depending how you look at these things!
