bike is not going to be a green lane plodder.
For me the bike is a little too tall for comfortable green laning but you never know, I might become so comfortable on it that I'd be tempted🤔

I have had a good look over the new bike today and washed it. I took many photos. I'll upload them to my Dropbox cloud and those of you who are interested can take a look.

Some early thoughts:
Bear in mind my only recent motorcycle experience is with my 1955 A10.
The new bike has only done 27 miles so must be tight. While riding, when I shut the throttle the bike almost stands on its nose, (slight exaggeration) ; the reduction in speed is like applying the brake.
The new bike is taller and heavier than the A10. Added to that the disk brakes are rubbing. Due to limited space in front of my shed, partly because the hoist is there, on its side, but still taking up 10", I had a heck of a job doing a 20 point turn to get the bike pointing toward the garden gate. Putting the bike in my shed backwards would be good but I cannot safely push it backwards up the ramp into the shed, and then the hoist when Emily is sold. I might have to think about a turntable. I miss the nice grab handle on the old bike!

Have you made a turntable for your bikes?

Ah, problemo! No centre stand!! I read that BSA are going to bring out a centre stand for the new bike. Fingers crossed for that!

The side stand on the new bike needs a washer to take some slack out of the movement. At the moment the bike leans over a bit too much for my liking.

It is going to be great to use my old Garmin satnav on the bike. There is a USB socket just behind the bars so I've mounted the satnav holder. I'll need to get a short connection lead.

G'day GB.
Great pics M8. There's lots going on under the seat and tank. Tool kit looks OK and even a first aid kit.
"when I shut the throttle the bike almost stands on its nose," Big singles have good engine braking.
"The side stand on the new bike needs a washer to take some slack out of the movement" So the fork is loose on the lug?
"Have you made a turntable for your bikes?" No but I have plenty of room. The XT & HD only have side stands and can be a pain. The BSA's and Honda can be spun on there center stands. There are good bike dolly's on the market https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/motorcycle-dollie-2500-mm/ but doubt you could push it up your ramp. The joys of NEW ownership. Every move is done with extra caution. What's that song "The first cut is the deepest".
Just enjoy her.
Cheers

When I turn off the engine I feel an urge to shut a fuel tap but there isn't one. 🙄

Until I can get a centre stand a turntable would need to be large enough to hold both wheels so that's not gonna happen.

The petrol tank, although it's quite bulky, doesn't hold a huge amount of juice, (12lt, 2.6 gallons). After seeing the space needed by the cylinder head in the tank base I can understand why.  The bike is heavy, I reckon that engine must be pretty weighty.

G'day GB.
I feel your pain. In the past I have been very cramped for space too.
The dolly I showed you can be spun around on it's own center.
"When I turn off the engine I feel an urge to shut a fuel tap but there isn't one. 🙄" The beauty of fuel injection. Is the pump on the inside or outside tank? I don't have to turn any of mine off, not even the plunger now fitted with a Premier Mk1 concentric.
Cheers

ps: I had the XT down at the club house (taken on the trailer). A few boys did some burnouts on their HD's next to the bar. I'll have some of that so lit the XT up only to go about 10 seconds. Doh, I forgot to turn the fuel on  *problem*

Yes, the fork yoke is too wide for the leg; just needs a slim washer. I may do it myself or wait for the first service at 500 miles.

Yes wait for service and put it to them. It may be something they throw back on the mother company if there's enough complaints. Too much play there will shorten it's life and not give you confidence.

Was chatting to a mate yesterday that I hadn't seen in a while. He's an HD lover too, though not so much now.... He was in France, overtaking a lorry when the back wheel locked up (the engine went bang). Was lucky not to lose his leg - now full of steel pins nonetheless. Apparently the timing gears on those tractors are held by a taper, locked in place by a nut HD advises should be torqued to 45 lbsft. I'm advised HD aficionados prefer 75lbsft but, as my mate's bike was serviced by a dealer, 45 was used. And the timing slipped, so the valves and pistons got together. As did my mate with the tarmac.

The dolly you show might be the answer but it would need to be operated on a rather uneven surface in front of the shed. My wife and I are thinking about moving so I will be making sure I have a more sensible mancave at the next domicile.

I braved UK March weather and took the new bike out for a ride. When I relaxed I started to really enjoy riding this motorcycle. The engine is very keen.

3000 revs give a road speed of 50mph. There is no red line on the rev counter. I think the engine is electronically muzzled so there is no chance of over revving it.
