Interesting photo again GB.  A bit before my time but I do remember seeing one of those early WW1 tanks in the Imperial War Museum in London when I was a schoolboy and being amazed at the thing having a nameplate of the side emblazoned with the name of my home town at the time. The "Brentwood" after Brentwood in Essex.

Also noting that the transport firm of Pickfords are still very much in business today unlike BSA.  The low loader might be a Scammell articulated 6 wheeler, note the chain driven solid tired wheels, and was developed after the war by Lt Col H Scammell and his company. According to Wikipedia it could move a 7.4 long ton load at up to 12mph legally. (Previously limited to 5mph) They took 50 orders at the 1920 Commercial Vehicle Show so this picture probably after that date.

My brother and I used to ride in our father's Wynns Scammell, picking up tanks and cannons from Southampton and delivering them to a war dept store near Didcot. Once in the depot, we used to pull and push every lever we could in the hope that someone had left one "up the spout", no luck (fortunately).

The stuff was coming back from the war, so it would be late 40s early 50s.

You might have the wrong war there Bsareg? That's a WWI tank going for scrap in the 20's I think judging by the transport and the outfits!

Interesting things, early tanks (or Landships)!
Loads of reading for them as likes - is this one a Big Willy, or even a Little Willy? Not sure, but pretty early, so I'd say built in 1916/1917 at a guess.
They had more weaponry aboard by the end of the Great War I think - and some had turrets and looked more like a 'proper' tank.  Could be 14 tons, in battle order, so a big load for the old Scammell even if shorn of a lot of kit.

See eg http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Overviews/WW1TanksOverview.html

So I'm with BoN - a post-WW1 pic of a tired fire-breather going to the knackers' yard, or something of the sort.
