Amp Reading
« on: 21.09. 2009 06:36 »
G'day All,
Have a liitle bit of a strange situation with the wiring again, just noticed that
when I put my foot on the brake pedal & activate the light, the needle on
the amp meter goes up instead of down, the headlight etc. is all working
fine, shows a dip when I turn them on. tried swaping the wires around on
the brake switch, but didn't make any difference,

regards, Cus

Thats perfectly normal. I have absolutely no idea why it happens but no doubt one of our electrical guru's will.

Hi Cus
That's because the stop light is connected in the circuit after the ammeter, on the battery side. This means that when the stop light is activated, the current is drawn from the dynamo through the ammeter towards the battery and so will appear as a positive/charging indication on the ammeter.  This should be also be the case when the horn is operated.

Thanks for that,
Good news! don't have to mess with that then.
