BSA experimental Side valve twin

Was that a genuine BSA prototype? Seems a particularly ugly and unnecessarily ungainly version of a simple SV twin. Is it a special using some stationary engine or whatever?

Could it have been an engine from an early scooter type vehicle that required a lower profile?

A BSA machine, intended for military usage, equipped with the 198cc engine designed for use in the BSA Beeza scooter. This machine did not reach the production stage.

Not a BSA engine
I have seen it before but just can not place it
I think I have just about every book writen about BSA no mention of any side valve twin form the 30's or 40's
Lots of stories about the WB30 OHV twin and the total redesign with the 3 ranges , B sporting light singles, M heavy singles & C light weight commuters starting at 1935 and of course the A series twins.


I stand corrected , it is as Tomcat mentioned .

I read a little more on FaceAche. Seems it was a prewar BSA prototype. Only a few engines were made. One of the engines was resurrected years later and put into that frame.
I cannot find the post again. I think it may have been an idea for a military vehicle.

Didn't think the motor looked in harmony with the rest of the thing GB, especially that 'modern' gearbox.
Compact and gutless, as in 'wouldn't pull a maggot off a slice of rotten liver' I don't suppose, but probably had a throaty voice for such a small child. A real curiosity. Keep 'em coming!
