The proportion and relationship of the headlight against the dial cluster is very important on a naked classic. Clocks have grown in size over the years since the original Gold Star, because not only do we have to have to display miles per hour, but also kilometres per hour, these numbers should be of a certain size to be legible, plus we have a number of tell-tell lights which take up a large area within the clocks, so naturally dials have gotten bigger and bigger over time. However, we wanted to stay faithful to the size and position of the original clocks as much as we could. So, the solution was to put the tell-tell lights in what used to be the ammeter on the original, which is housed in the headlight. This has enabled us to keep the clock sizes small, and we are really pleased with the result as it maintains the Goldie look, proportions, and relationship with the headlamp.”
