This is years old, and it was made clear that he was either a fantasist or publicising something. He could have walked the 20 miles to safety as he both knew the area and had water for at least 12 days.

I didn't say I believed it.

If it was reported that a local engineer helped him I'd be more convinced. Those Third World village workshops have to keep all sorts of ancient equipment running.
