6 or 12 amp ammeter?

On my GF with 6v battery should I fit a 6 or 12 amp ammeter? Advise would be appreciated.

A 6 A one may be off-scale when the headlight is on and the engine is stopped or idling.

Does that matter to you?

The 6V system has an 8amp meter. I have never seen a 6amp one.

Me neither.
It's always struck me as weird and unnecessary that makers fitted the -12+12 ammeters on 12v systems where there are half the amps flying around  . . .  My bikes have a mixture of the things according to what I had to hand - by far the best being the (larger) white-faced Miller ammeters in my humble. Steady needles, and easy to read without my bins on!
