Something for the winter
« on: 16.09. 2009 10:39 »
Well here's the leftovers from the plunger a 49 engine along with a very early frame (XA7 5**) I found.
Anyone got a ratchet centre stand *smile*?
Note twin carb Star Twin head.
In a bit of a dilemma. Am thinking a rigid with the twin carbs would look quite cool. *idea*
Not original, but to go that route on these is the road to insanity.*problem*

On the other hand the '49 plunger according to the guy I got it from was a Star Twin originally
though it came with two standard heads, wrong case no.s & the original buff log book just states "A7 twin"
which is a bit ambiguous.

So I could swap lumps & have a correct '49 Star Twin (yeah, OK except for the paint scheme),
or a '47 rigid "star twin"

Of course it's a personal choice at the end of the day, but I'd welcome any input/opinions.

Am stuck home with son, both of us have swine flu, so be nice!

Finally, sorry about pic quality (Erling) wife says can buy new camera when stop buying bike bits, so could be a while *smile*

G'day Rusty,
There's some good gear there, most of it looks in pretty good nick too.
I always like to match up the frame & engine though, it costs alot to
restore as everyone knows & with correct no's you can generally get
a good price when & if you decide to sell, thats my 2 bobs worth,

regards, Cus

You lucky so so... that's very nice indeed. Being a rigid back end... It would look nice with Girder forks.

I had a feeling you would make that very suggestion!
I saw your post about yours a while ago & mulled it over, however,
strict instructions from "on high" to do this one on minimal budget, so have to work with what's left over from the plunger project.
Having seen some of your recent finds 'tis indeed you who are the lucky one!
You must have a really big shed *smile*
Any girders in it? *smile* *smile*

Cheers

Wow, that's a nice pile there.  I'd love to get my hands on a rigid frame...things are like rocking horse poo 'round here.
