Ariel Front Wheel wanted
« on: 29.08. 2021 08:12 »
I have just purchased a trailer load of parts for my next project. amongst the parts is a 1957 a7 Seems to have most parts there?? I am wanting to put it together to see what is missing. One thing missing is the Ariel type full width front wheel and axel. Fork legs seem to be right for ariel hub and it has the ariel type rear hub. Does anyone in OZ have one that they are wanting to sell . Or maybe a cowpat headlight cowl or top yolk with steering lock .Also if anyone has any old rusty or not handlebars and clamps. The idea is to get it rolling and then I can move it around before the restore starts. Cheers.

Looks like an Ariel head and cylinder?

It appears there are parts from at least two motorcycles there.

Yeh it was a take the lot deal. 1 x 1957 bsa a7 , 1 x 1951 bsa a7 , 1 x 1952? Ariel 500cc ??. ,some Honda stuff .Seemed like a good idea to keep me busy for the future. Anyone know what the rear wheel in last pic is from. Lots of bits to hopefully swap for things I need.

My guess is that it is a full width Cast Iron Hub, with luck from a late A10. Rim size 19" you're in with a chance. Confirm by the casting number on the backplate. I noticed a rear wheel with a detachable bolt on sprocket in the trailer pile, that may be a later 1966 A65 or 1970's conical hub  type.

Swap the single sided front wheel and fork legs to the basis of the swinging arm bike to get something mobile in the short term. Lots of stuff there to mix'n match. A pair of S/A yokes is all you need.

 Swarfy.

Hi All,
The wheel looks to be a late type A7/10 , 4 bolt sprocket
Also the cable anchor and torque stay both on the same "bolt" through the brake plate where as the earlier version has a cast on cable anchor

The A7 frame and engine numbers should tie down the year, then the correct bits can be identified

Can you measure the fork leg wheel spindle diameter.
I do not have a spare wheel but going mad looking for some fork legs to suit my wheel.

Just read your post. I think your question may have been answered in a post just put up (  Ariel fork help for B33  ). But if not let me know and I will measure mine...  Ah just noticed that post was yours.
