Buying from the USA

Anybody know what duties/taxes have to be paid when buying from the USA into the UK ?

I've stopped buying from the U.S. I'm hit every time now by import tax (I think it's 20%) and a tax collection fee from the post office.

I know you have to pay VAT @ 20% - it's the other duties/taxes I was wondering about.

Just bought a rear brake pedal (splined) from the USA.
Cost £17 + vat @ 20% (£3.40) (US) and carriage.(£23)
Delivered today and no UK Taxes or duties (took 6 days)
A good result I think - these pedals are quite rare.
