Hi Gary

I have recent experiences with the Amal 276 carb, not all it happy - but I do know what the settings should be!

For my 1954 plunger A10 Golden Flash, the recommended settings for a new 276GG/1DB carb are:
- 170 Main Jet
- 107 Needle Jet
- Throttle Valve No. 4.

If it's running too rich with these settings, you could try a smaller main jet, or play with the pilot air screw (screw it out a quarter turn at a time), lower the jet needle by one groove or even go for a larger cutaway in the throttle valve (moving from 4 to 5?, but I haven't tried this)

You could easily replace your jet needle (and its clip) if it's loose, so maybe you could start here first? They're cheap in the UK but are they available in the USA?

Good luck and all the best, Simon

Simon, I'll save that information so I can check my carb next time I have it off.....😉

Mines in a box at the moment so I'll check mine against that tomorrow. Mine is definitely a bit rich.
