I prefer the Montgomery J.A.P. (vee twin) Something about those pre-war bikes.
'49 B31, '49 M21, '53 DOT, '58 Flash, '62 Flash special, '00 Firestorm, Weslake sprint bike.

Something about those pre-war bikes.
Beautiful, many of them, I agree.
Just a shame that modern-sized people have to have their legs shortened to ride 'em, otherwise I'd be well up for a V twin. René-Gillets are nice RD, if you haven't come across the marque -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=epdZa6NwjAY if it works

Or the Coventry Eagle Flying 8. Would love one of these but the price puts me off.

And the last of the big Swiss v-twins built for the Army between 1942 and 1947 about 580 were made , about half if them Condor, made in the French soeaking Jura Mountains snd the other half 'Universal' made north of Zurich .
The Army often splits contracts between french speaking cantond and german speaking ones.
Condor is credited for the gear box (a Rudge 4speed gearbox laid flat )and Universal for the engine (a sv J.A.P copy)
Interestingly, my bike definitely shows file marks where the J.A.P logo was supposed to be on the crankcase .
Every thread being imperial on the bottom end and the gearbox make me think that being a neutral country Switzerland could not be seen using allied or German parts, and rubbed off any identification marks.

In 1970 I sold 4 1140cc Royal Enfields and 1 BSA G14 to a dealer. He offered £9 each but I beat him upwards to a princely £25........

Hi All,
The Forum's secret policeman does not like certain abbreviations so the engines of John Alfred Prestwitch become
Japanese unless the full stops are placed between the letters like this  J.A.P
