speedometer for A7 S608/19/L wanted
« on: 21.12. 2020 09:07 »
I am rebuilding my 1955 A7 that I first bought in 1969.

The speedometer seems to have gone missing over the ten years its been in bits!!

I believe the model should be a Smiths S608/19/L

If anyone has one or knows where I can find one please contact me.

To increase your chances of finding a speedo, you can probably get any chronometric of the correct basic type and then get it calibrated and a new dial with correct number put on it by most specialist repairers.

Variants to look out for when buying one include the bezel type, presence of trip and light  (rim type bezel for nacelle, but bezels of various types are available) position of trip cable etc, but a specialist may be able to take pretty much whatever you give him and “convert” it (or exchange it), converting a side to bottom trip cable (or vice versa, cant recall)  might require a few hard to find parts though.

Just a thought....

You could try Ashley Pople @ Speedo Repairs, based in Aldershot, he supplied me a rev counter and reworked my nacelle type speedo to free standing, replacing the bezel and bottom trip to side. Quality work at a competitive price.
