Seen at Ballarat
« on: 27.01. 2020 03:19 »
... An exceptionally nice late Super Rocket, at a Ballarat show yesterday. Restored to within an inch of it's life, (I'd hate to see the chroming bill!), but very sweet, very original.
Is the owner on here? Question: did Super Rockets ever have chromed headlight supports? -I only remember painted black ones, but maybe the final or export SRs had chromed ones (like the later unit bikes).

Jools, the export versions with the separate headlight had chromed "ears".  e.g. Big Valve Super Rocket.

That would be a Big Valve.
Note the short rear guard and hand rail.
Would have had  an STD2 or STB gearbox originally.
Knee pads should be grey as should be the rubber bungs in the tank and chainguard.
Nice bike.

Well, in that case I would have nothing to do with it. ;)

Are you prejudiced against grey, Richard?
When I built my Big Valve I got the grey knee pads but had no luck with the bungs.
I don't know whether to take the bike out because the rivet counters will give me hell.
