Many moons ago I used to work for Guinness. Learned a lot about how to look after it and pour it (and sample it). The rule was it was to be kept and poured at 59 degrees F. There was outrage when the marketeers started promoting ice cold Guinness. Understandable I suppose for these hot climes...

Best thing about Fosters was the ad's. They were good when Paul Hogan did them, not so good now. Brewed in Manchester, brand is now owned by Heineken.  Always tastes better when someone else is buying.

Don't confuse refreshment with enjoyment.  Sometimes you need refreshing, and a nice ice cool swillie hits the spot.  Other times a relaxing sip is called for....that's when a traditional regional beer adds enjoyment to life's tapestry.

I like to try local brews. Yukon Gold (drunk in Whitehorse, can't get more local) gets my vote. Surprisingly Dorada, on the Canary Islands, a great refresher.

Nice to see a pint of Proper Job on the go. This is from the St Austell Brewery, Cornwall, a regional brewer with national distribution, but still an independent family owned concern. Can't tell from the pic if that was the Kiwi's first glug, or the dregs, having given up on the possibly curious taste. Its an IPA style, but has a slightly grapefruity hint, so a great refresher on a hot day. May have come as a bit of a surprise, tastewise.  The name comes from the local expression for any task that will be completed to perfection, or to describe something well finished or working as intended.

For folks using painkillers, any codeine (and other opioid) containing medicines will have the side effect of causing constipation. By chance, a couple of pints of Burton Ale, such as Marston's Medicinal, will overcome this, as the Burton Water in the brew is high in Magnesium Sulphate, otherwise known as the household laxative, Epsom Salts.

So Bergs, ditch the tablets, drink the beer.

I wouldn't even dip my sheep in Fosters.
Probably OK as a weed killer. Or snails.
Don't see it much around my neck of the woods.

Chilled?
Garage temperature in the Winter - in the fridge in the Summer. A bit lively when pouring if it is not cold.

Many years ago we did 'blind' taste-tests researching beers. Almost all tasters THOUGHT they could tell the difference between the two popular brands we were testing.
Almost none could actually identify the different brands correctly. (These were 2 lagers being tested).
