hi all  My name is Brian and I live in Cumbria and have just got a 1949 BSA A7 Rigid to restore.Iremember the bike being complete and a fellow member of our bike club bought it 20 years ago and stripped it down to refurb the engine mainly but he has so many projects to do (car,boats etc)that it has just sat around so he said I could have it for what he paid.It has suffered a bit in them 20 years but nothing too major I hope.Will post the odd picture as and when I make progress .The frame has been painted and am just awaiting the front end from the powder coaters and all the stainless bits to get the front end together   Brian

Welcome, I’ve only seen one restored rigid a7, I was surprised how many parts are different to later models, there are two types of rigid frame as well (I think). Pictures would be great 

Edit: I think some people think Cumbria is in Scotland.......

Hi Brian. You are not alone with your earlier A7 Longstroke...I am currently plucking up the courage to reassemble a basket case engine. This has several missing parts, so if yours is complete, you are in with a better chance. The early and late engines are similar design, with common problems, particularly as regards lubrication, so lots on the forum can be applied to your bike.

Lucas headlight fitted.A fellow club members longstroke has a Miller light fitted but draganfly website says this one.I have a Miller in the box of bits i got but it needs painting and a new rim so the lucas will do for now

front wheel temporarily fitted  I need a new tyre but dont know whether to fit a new period type or a Avon Roadrider  Your thoughts would be appreciated and also any constuctive comments on work so far and work to follow
