Introduction
« on: 06.08. 2019 23:43 »
Great forum and even after being involved in restoring bikes for decades there are so many questions when you get a new project.
Recently got a complete A10 1960 model with correct numbers.
A couple of questions to start..

My engine number is DA10 prefix so it says it's a flash. We're all standard A10 bikes golden flash models.

Oil tank colour.. I noticed most photos show the oil tank & side cover painted black. Mine is same colour as the tank and guards. Which is correct or both options available.
I'm hoping to paint this one in red.

My bike rides and runs well. Apart from valve guides leaking and 55000 miles of use the restoration seems to be fairly straight forward.

Regards
Dave

Welcome to this great forum, colour options were available for oil tank and tool box, but std would have been black. Flashes are easy identified by cast iron head.

Cheers greybeard. Already had a look at that post. My dad and grandfather both worked in the bsa factory from 52 to 69.
Dad passed away 2 years ago and I've now got the last bike he rode.
It's a shame he is not here for advice anymore.

Welcome Dave, the wife and me are on holidays in Salzburg at the moment, just finishing a bottle of Barossa red. Hope to see you and the bike a few rallys before too long.
