A10 carb cable run

Hi all,
on attaching the carb to my A10 project, I find that there is no room at all for the cables to avoid the frame top tube.
Bike is a 51
carb is a 289
although i have a 276 also
smaller bore but still the same problem

any ideas anyone ?

Get rid of the cable adjusters and fit top hat ferrules.

Was tight on my plunger, so no adjuster on the carb itself, just minimalistic ferrules to keep cable in place.
Adjustments were in-cable > example on ebay

 I needed to make up a whole new inlet tract to fit a 389 monobloc to my Ally head on my Plungo....

i had thought of that, but obviously something is amiss if there is so little room, maybe a shorter carb top ?
I may plump for a new monobloc anyway and nick the 289 for my matchless

Nothing amiss. It works fine. Here's mine. The back cable is for the choke slide. I almost never need to use the choke; I just flood the carb.

looks like a tight squeeze
but possibly more space there than i have
but even if it sort of works,
it cant have been like that as standard can it ?

You won’t get much better than that. There’s very little space between carb top and frame on a plunger.
I too didn’t liked the way the cables connected. In the end I bent some old 1/4 inch steel brake pipe I had laying around to make some form of guide with this as result

Nice idea. We're you able to get the nipples through the pipe?

No. But the cables had to be of different length than standard anyway so I used universal cables with solder on twist grip nipple
