Clutch cable route '53 plunger A10

Hi All,
I am more than slightly mystified by the clutch cable run. I forgot to take a photo when I dismantled it.
The cable seems quite long but doesn't run smoothly over its last few inches, a sharp bend to the clutch actuating arm.
Does it run under than tank and down by the carburettor or down the front frame tube and under or over the chain case? How does it line up with the operating arm?
Any help on these points greatly appreciated.

Yes under the tank and down behind the air box/battery carrier. Then a sharp turn to the operating arm.

 Is troublesome, depending on the hahn*beer*dlebar (typo) setup .....I get mine under the tank, and down under and in as straight a line as possible  to the tranny lug/clutch-arm

Good - I thought I might be doing something wrong. It works OK and isn't tight but my cable run has sharper bends than I would like. In particular there seems a bit of sideways force where the adjuster enters the lug. I'll see what happens over time.

Adrian, You can't win with this. A nice smooth sweep from the handlebar lever and down the timing side of the frame top tube, to drop down the saddle/ filter support tube on the drive side.  Then it's back across over the frame lug for the gearbox top mounting,  ready to be chafed on the gearbox cast lug. Depending on how long the cable is, you may be able to give more gentle sweeps, or even run under the gearbox  top lug mount for a straighter cable run to the operating lever on the gearbox. Sometimes better to start at the gearbox and work back to the handlebars.
