BSAOC South West Wales weekend?
« on: 22.06. 2019 16:34 »
Next Friday  I'm off to to the south West Wales weekend, near Carmarthen and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Google maps show routes of 170 to 180 miles from home. I've booked two nights in a local hostelry. This means I don't need to load the bike up with all my camping gear and that I'll have a comfortable night.

Can I encourage anyone who can make it to come along, at least for the Saturday ride-out. BSAOC branches are not stuffy about non-members attending, as long as they are riding a BSA.

Ask me if you need more details of the location etc.

I'll be staying at the Abadan Arms in Porthyrhyd: http://bit.ly/2Y4GIfF

It would be great if you can make it. Picture of bike to aid recognition.

Set off for the ride-out on Sunday will be 10:30ish.

Where will you be coming from? UPDATE, just noticed your location is Bristol.

The location of the start is here http://bit.ly/2ZJVnO2

Sunday, the organiser has agreed to enter some machines to a local vehicle show; giving us free entry. I am coming home on Sunday, so I may not stay all day for that.

BigJim, Saturday, (10:30) ride-out. Sunday, bikes can go to be shown at a local vehicle show.

I hope to be able to buy you a pint.

Last year, after the ride, the gang went to the other pub, opposite the Abadan Arms, for a booze-up, so look in there if you arrive late.

I have stopped for human fuel near Monmouth. Great ride so far; the weather is glorious.

The second half of my journey became more like a bad dream. My satnav stopped working. Seems like everybody stops work mid day Friday. I found myself trying to keep the bike moving through stationary traffic in Cardiff and Swansea. The air temperature was hot. The clutch was slipping. The carb was farting about vaporising fuel; nightmare!
Anyway, I'm at my friendly pub B&B. I've showered and changed and I'm tucking in to a chicken curry and slurping beer.
The bike ran fabulously when on the open road. She is still running nice and quiet, even when red hot!

It amazes me that in our tiny island there is a region that is truly bi-lingual. The pub is full of people chattering in Welsh. I can only understand the words that don't have a Welsh version, eg., 'WiFi'

I've worked a lot with a guy from Wales, and I had to ask 15 times what he said...every time, and that was face to face- over a two-way was extra fun *conf2*
