Bob Hawke
« on: 15.06. 2019 01:11 »
A State Memorial Service was held for ex-PM Bob Hawke at Sydney Opera House yesterday.
One of Australia's all time great PMs.
He also held the Guinness record for scolling a jug of beer. (typical aussie politician)
Check out his version of Waltzing Matilda at Woodside.
RIP Bob

The best one I heard about Bob was from Barry Cassidy, former aide to Bob and a recently retired journalist.
On one occasion, Bob was leading a delegation from the US. When their bus failed to arrive, Bob said "Bugger this, I'm going to the pub". Just then a car full of young yobbos yelled out "Hawky - you are a f--ing legend". Bob replied "If I am such a f--ing legend how about a lift to the pub?" Bob piled into the car of total strangers and spent the journey to the pub talking to their mums on the mobile phone. The US delegation was aghast.
