BSAOC Norfolk camp weekend
« on: 02.06. 2019 09:05 »
Nice day today, off to Woolpit Steam Fair, Stowmarket, Suffolk.
Next weekend I'm planning to ride 150 miles to the Norfolk BSAOC weekend. It's at Reepham station. If any forum members are within reach maybe you could make it. There is a ride-out on Saturday. I reckon non-BSAOC members would be allowed to attend; I'll check.

UPDATE: Rob Smithdale, Norfolk branch Chairman says, yes, all are welcome!  *smile* *smile* *smile*

Hey GB - thanks for that. I am at a loose end over the weekend so could maybe drag the old girl out, strap some gear on and roll that way.

Wear your Forum Tee if you get there! I'll buy you a beer or three. The Saturday ride-out is scheduled for 11:00.

I'm working all Friday so wouldn't be getting over there until late afternoon on the Saturday - so my ride out would be the ride in.  I'm central Essex so it would be a gentle bimble in on the lanes for me.

Weather looks set to indifferent, so I'll wait and see how that pans out also.

And thanks.

Bluddyhell GB - weather for tomorrow looks wound up to 11 on the horrible scale.

Sorry GB. I saw Cyclobutch’s weather warning and when checked, it did not look to bad, so fuelled and checked A10 last night. Planned a nice route via Eye and Wymondham, about 75 miles. Woke this morning at 7am and its pouring down, still doing it at 10am, still doing it now. I know fair weather biker and all that but my mantra this year is ‘I am riding my bikes for fun’.
Hope you did not get too wet.

I bought a super duper rain oversuit because the forecast for the weekend was so crappy.
Friday, 150 miles to Norfolk, got a bit damp.
Saturday 60 mile ride-out, got a wet crotch.
Sunday, lazy day laying around in the hot sun. Short ride to local village, Reepham.
Monday, 150 miles to home, got VERY wet.

The new oversuit is going to be returned for a refund!

Anyway, I had a great time with the Norfolk gang and their visitors.

There were four A7A10 forum members at the camp: Cyclobutch, TTJohn, Dean and Greybeard. I wish I'd thought about taking a picture of us. If I get hold of suitable pictures and permission to use them I'll come back and post them here.

Yes - it was good to meet up with folks and lift a glass. And very welcoming the Norfolk crew were too. All good.

I actually got to ride back in the dry on the Sunday and even got all my kit dried out after I arrived home.

I mostly only have pics of the machinery there unfortunately. Since posted up on my FB page.

Ah - What you are looking for is Stephen Beckett. Of however many there are on there you'll be looking for the one with an image of a kiddie on a (Puch) chopper bicycle.

Good luck - maybe see you on the other side ...

Good to meet you both at Norfolk Camp. Its always a great weekend.
I have been distracted by other camps since so have not got round to how I broke to A10 on the ride-out.
No events planned for next weekend so I should see if I can diagnose the problem.
Never tell people your troubles. Half of them are not interested and the other half are glad you're getting what's coming to you.
