1958 Super Rocket Red

Discovered there was a pinhole leak at the front of my tank where some damage had been bogged over some braze that hadn't fixed a bigger hole. Took the opportunity to take out some dents in the chrome panels that came out remakably well using a dolly I'd made and a lenght of 3x1" pine as a hammer. Lifted two quite nasty dents almost completely. Left with a bit of re bogging t do in the front painted section of the tank which I have soldered. I'm hoping to be able to touch it up as a repair and maybe re clearcoat the whole painted area after keying the surface with some 0000 steel wool. Its a monochrome red paint colour which I think is an original paint colour. I can obviously get it matched by my paint people but some guidance on the original details would be gratefully recieved!

Getting the feeling I haven’t engendered a true sense of excitement with my post so thought I’d add some pics for the more visually inclined:)

Looks like factory finish called Royal Red, which was a solid colour and easy found using 2 pack.

Unlikely to be factory paint as the pinstriping was done using tape, so I'd respray with two pack to match what's there.

Cheers yes definitely not original paint. The Super Rocket logo is definitely the stick on vinyl type rather than water slide or traditional goldsize transfer and as mentioned the gold stripes are also stick on. Anyone got numbers for Royal Red?

Royal Red "Post Office Red, Cherry, BS381 538"
Hope this helps, but any decent paint supplier will colour match from a sample.

Ended up taking a couple of stabs at getting the touch up colour to blend and while it’s not perfect in bright light the general impression is pretty good and the off the gun finish on the clear is very gratifying. I’d never go back to Dulon.

Argh just waiting now. I have a friend with a nice big lathe with which I can true the drums and machine the bake shoes to a full contact fit. He is busy at the moment though so the bike sits ready to go with its new rings, repaired tank and even now a new oil cap made in a passing the time sort of way on the Myford.
