Wax Jackets.

I recently bought my first one as an alternative to my trusty old leather. It's second hand and not been re-waxed for a good few years.

What can I expect from it waterproof wise, and what do you fellas use to re-wax yours?

Any tips etc appreciated...... It's an old London firm called 'Protector' jacket, and it's at least thirty years old.

That Nikwax is OK for a quick squirt and rub down, but my favourite longer term prep is gold label waterproof wax. The pot looks like this;

And regardless, out in a long day's downpour you might still expect to feel a bit dank at the end of the ride.

 Good information- I've a not so old Aussie made Belstaff (circa ~'01 made by Drizabone under license) which replaced a proper one that was stolen....used the Belstaff waxy stuff o previous jackets but was a mission and not always a success....I think some 'wax-cotton'/ 'oil-skins' use a silicon type spray, but I've never used that....these products look promising though- but not sure if available in Oz
