Headlamp rim depth
« on: 17.11. 2018 18:29 »
Can anyone tell me the correct overall depth for 54 A10 rim (underslung pilot)? My bike came with 1 1/8 inch, but all the replacements available are just 1 inch. Cheers, Bill.

G'day Bill.
My 51 is 1", I bought genuine Lucas back in the early 80's. Not saying this to be 100% correct. I did a quick search to no avail. Lucas SSU700/P.
Now get over to "Introductions" https://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?board=13.0 and say G'day (in that funny Kiwi accent) and give us a life story.
Cheers

The original Lucas rims were 1 inch deep, part 553248. They were well made from chrome plated brass. The current repro items often dont fit very well and are chromed steel.

Wipac rims also came in 7 inch size, these were a little wider than the Lucas item and chromed steel. You may have one of these.

Thanks guys and g'day. It looks like I have been scouring local sources and Ebay for the wrong one! I was confused by both my 65 A65 and 54 A10 arriving here with the deeper rims, while my 56 A7ss came here with a 1" one. I had a good heavy quality used 1'' rim in my boxes, so I've just fitted that and it looks a treat. Cheers B.
