ordering new amal 376
« on: 02.10. 2018 17:18 »
 Guys,

I remember some discussion on making sure to really clean these well before use.

But I also remember someone mentioning they run either rich or lean right from the factory, I just cannot remember which.

I want to make sure I have enough of and the right parts to bring this in. Right now I have everything to go much richer, if I need to be able to go much leaner I will add it to the order. Otherwise I will save a little money here.

 Thank you,
Lee

  • Last had an A10 in 1976, in 2011 it was time for my 2nd one. It was the project from HELL (but I learned a lot....)

My 376 worked well “out of the box” on an 1956 A10 with a 356 cam, otherwise std, I did not know to clean it first!

Burden state what jets it comes with, which should be the same as standard?

Yes, same as standard except a 106 needle, which I think was originally a 106.5

I just remember someone saying they are slightly leaner or richer than original- and I just cannot remember which way.

I for sure have the jets to fatten it up, but nothing to lean it out.

 New carb arrived today.

Took it apart, cleaned some lite machine oil looking stuff out, didnt see any dirt or puke.

Checked jet sizes, set pilot to 1.5 and now I have to wait for some time off and a warmish day.

Everything is set up like stock, and I will start from there.

They had a dusting of snow last week about 40 miles North of me. Today its 70 degrees F. but I am running out of time this year.
