identify bike/frame
« on: 22.09. 2018 13:32 »
Hi all, my son works for the South Downs National park and came across this fascinating object. Has anyone the slightest clue what it might once have been and approx year.
cheers
John

You know, that frame is 'growing' on me. If you make a few 'trunk calls' to 'branches' of motorcycle clubs you may be able to get to the 'root' of its origin. Have a dig around to see if squirrels have buried 'nuts' from it.

If you can date the age of the tree that will help in calculating what year the bike was last ridden! H ave a sudden and irrational desire to see a bike with timber forks, yew could be suitably strong with a bit if flex.

Well done Brian. I thought it would generate a few tree related puns. Just nice to know what the bike would originally have looked like.

277cc model W Triumph.

There was one of those on the USA CannonBall run that just ended locally near me.  Everyone said they were surprised how well the Triumphs on the ride did.  See my post on this as I am updating with videos and you can see for yourself.
