A new build project
« on: 21.09. 2018 11:09 »
Hi all, hopefully this will be a good place to get fantastic information. Have recently picked up a nice project. Hope to put it back to the standard it deserves with a few modern upgrades where needed. Thanks for accepting me.

Sorry tried to upload a pict but seems it’s too big. Will have to look into it. 1960 A10 is the bike. Originally went to Canada but is now in NZ. It’s been sitting in a shed for about 18 years. Needs a fair bit of work but looking forward to it

Looks pretty complete. Love the Series one Landy over there. Is that yours?

Landy belongs to the guy we got the bike from. He was in the process of fixing up bits on it. Got the Mag rebuilt. Took it out and it failed. Basically he parked it in the shed and there it stayed. That was about 2001 or there about.

Dan,

Welcome.  *welcome*. That looks much like my '57 A7 barn find of a couple of years ago. My progress has been slow, but now I have a challenge to at least keep pace.

I rhink having originated in Canada may explain the western bars. One of the good- news items here is the original tinware. With just one picture it's hard to tell if this bike would be called a "survivor", which might sway which way one might go with restoration. That said, the one way you must go is your own way.

Well, on second look, maybe too much hasn't survived to be classified a "survivor".
I'm not judgemental. Your way is the right way.

Definatly not a survivor. Has been used and abused over the years before storage. The paint was put on with a brush. We’ll make it all good again.

G'day Dan,  *welcome*
Good find mate. Don't even think of trying to start it. Full motor strip will be needed. I'd try to keep most of the patina.
Cheers

Crusty & Rusty, just my style.  Builds character and those wimps who cant deal with a little elbow grease and
corrosion can go pound sand.  Seperates the men & the boys I say......
Good for you.  Just start soaking everything with a good penetrating oil, Some make their own, some prefer store bought.  My favorite is a product called "PB Blaster" but some good recipes online to make your own witches brew.
The nice bit is that all the major bits are there.
parts books and tech literature loaded on the Site here, start there.
(never assume everything is as it should be, Any number of parts swaps or bodgery might have occured, check it all over against the tech data)
Remember that any advice received on a free internet forum is generally worth about 1/2 of what you paid for it.
We overcharge every 3rd customer to pass the savings onto you.
You can have High Quality, Low price, and fast turnaround. Pick any 2, Never all 3 at the same time.
