Last week:
I don't have any pillion footrests so I rode to my fairly local BSA shop, (C&D Autos) and bought a new pair for <£20, which I reckon is very good value. Now, the problems: The frame holes are
mahusive so that sidecars can be fitted, either side, (or both at once if you like!). The BSA parts list shows item 67-4183, Pillion Footrest Adapter, (solo). I've tried making something up out of scrap bits-n-bobs but that was not very satisfactory. I've just made a drawing of what I want and asked CPC Engineering if they are able to make a couple of the adapters. I'll let you know what happens.
If I had a hammer lathe I could have made something similar myself but I don't and I don't know anyone close to me that has a lathe.
Today I received a neat little parcel from CPC. They've made the frame adapters to my design. They use Stainless, (316, I think ) so they look fantastic. Price to make these was £28, including postage. Getting these adapters made up to my own design cheered me up considerably!
I'll let you and CPC know if they are ok so they can make some more if people want them. I can think of a couple of possible problems but we'll see how they are in practice.
I'm going to try to protect the paint on the toolbox from size nines by applying the thin plastic that is used to protect tablet and phone screens. If that doesn't work out I'm going to be asking pillion passengers to take their boots off and ride in their socks!
