G'day Fellas.
Got the mates HD finished and off the bike lift. What a job  *work*
I then lifted the rHonda up. Both the tacho and speedo decided they'd had enough after 42 years and 162,000km. The speedo would bounce off the stop peg once over 140kph and the tacho needle broke off and was making horrible noises. I found a new pair in the US but the US model has the speedo dial printed with both mph and kph. Only took an hour to fit (fiddly without taking the fairing off) and they look great. I then followed the HD on it's test run and to check the speedo. Spot on match at 60mph and the tacho was showing 3800rpm. Now you know me  *lol*, both worked up too 120mph and 7600rpm till the traffic got a bit thick  *evil*.
Cheers

Rode the Star Twin up to Edinburgh for a works pensioners coffee morning. Having done it and shown my face, I'll never have to do it again. 60 miles, damp but windy, good to be out.

that could have been a lot worse than it has turned out *sick*. tried to start the berger build and she wouldn't pick up she fired 3 or 4 times and died, i got the idea in my head that maybe the carb had a problem with being stood over winter. i had planned the first proper run out with a mate and while he was on his way i decided to put betsy's carb on for quickness . when he got to mine i had betsy's carb off and we took the carb off the berger build, after unscrewing the top and pulling out the slide the needle stayed in the carb. you should have seen my face when i noticed the needle clip had vanished and must have gone through the engine  *problem* *help* *pull hair out* i knew this clip was a bit weak when i put it in last year but didn't expect to find it gone. we got my camera thing and looked in the bores down the plug holes and couldn't see any damage or clip , i put betsy's clip on and she fired up so off we went, i am not a happy bunny and things will have to be altered . the engine sprocket is small and the gearbox one is also small to enable easy start off with the rrt2 and this doesn't bode well with top gear so it is coming OUT in the near future and my re built STD one going in after i've put some miles on the engine running it in. the back brake is crap so needs a coat of looking at and the brand new speedo cable is leaking at the crimp , what did i expect with these cables. we did about 5 miles and the chinesium chain guard decided to start catching the chain because it's just a piece of flimsy tin- yes i should know better!. apart from that my mate said the exhaust was buffering him and it is a very thumpy engine and very responsive, whatever happened to that clip it must have passed through the engine , who's a lucky boy *eek*

worty i very much doubt that unless it's punched a self sealing hole in the head, it could be stuck in the combustion chamber but there's no marks on the pistons, i think it broke into two pieces and got fired out the exhaust when the throttle got stuck half open last year.

I was going to say they may be in the exhaust - just make sure you've no mates behind you when you start firing out bits of engine *eek* *eek* *beer* *beer* *pull hair out* :-:
