Non starter
« on: 22.04. 2018 01:56 »
Ok more depression on yet another project.

I have just finished rebuilding my 52 plunger and it does not start.

I did not have the mag rebuilt because when I tested it the thing was sparking like a demon but that was at a fair speed when kicking it over I am lucky if it sparks at all.

Andrew at Priory is closed until the 1st of July :(

Where is the next best place to get my mag repaired? I always use priory because I have never had a problem or a breakdown after Andrew has sorted a mag out but unfortunately on this occasion he has decided his private life takes preference over my mag which I of course totally disagree with :)

It may only be the condenser as it has a very weak yellow spark when being kicked over and I do mean weak. But running at speed it was sparking like a good un. I even looked at one of those Thorspark things cos of my impatience but I cant be bothered to start looking for places to bolt a coil on.

When did Andrew (Priory Magnetos) close down again. I am sure when I looked at his web site on Friday it did not say anything?

Very sadly,  Mick Hall died recently, and I don't think the biz is still functioning. The web links (there is no web site per se I don't think) say 'closed down' in effect.
He was indeed a very nice bloke to deal with.

If Andrew at Priory is not able to sort you out you could try Dave Lindsley at Leominster. Expensive but good. He did my Mag, (before I got to know Andrew):

Hi All,
It is sad that several magneto repairers have either retired or passed away in fairly recent times  *sad2*

FTW may have ceased trading - their phone is "not receiving incoming calls" and they have nor replied to an email. (My dynamo died on the way back from the John Bull rally, now having attention from Armoto near Chesterfield, 1 month lead time estimated)

Ted,

I believe Groily was referring to FTW in citing the passing of Mick Hall (RIP). If I'm correct, a reply to email would be very surprising. To those who knew Mr. Hall, sorry for your loss.
