The section on 'Induction port obstructions' is a must read.
Don't take any notice of the ajs-matchless tag. its about BSA twins.

Many Thanks Olev for the post.

Jesus, just when I thought I was getting to grips with this classic motorcycle mechanics melarchy, along comes someone who writes an article (please read ajs/matchless link above) which proves to me just how little I know!
A very informative link indeed, I for one will be grabbing my torch and tickling stick and locking myself in my garage for a quick look for port obstructions.

Ok, my bias induction flange duly arrived in the post on Saturday and was fitted on Sunday (thick side opposite to the black & sooty cylinder). Remarkably it has seemed to have fixed my bike's fuel issues, now both spark plugs seem to be pretty much the same in colour. I also dropped the needle setting down from the No2 position to the No1 notch to fine tune it a bit more (using a 240 main jet).

The bike now seems to run great, I,ve just got to now sort out the clunky forks, gearing issues, bad brakes, and oh yeah and source a Chrono speedo from somewhere  *smile*

Bruce,

Have you had a chance to dry out the end of the right-hand exhaust to see if it still gets wet with oil? Perhaps this is implied by your message and I am just thicker than a bias gasket.

Hi Richard,

The right hand exhaust on my bike is now just slightly darker than the left hand side one, I am sure if I had used a more accentuated bias gasket then my issue would have been totally eradicated. The oil is all but dried up on the R/H side I am pleased to say, not perfect but close enough for me at the minute. I will of course keep a close eye on it over the coming weeks.
