Sometimes it's futile to resist! Though sadly purchased from the estate of a good friend deceased. The bike will be cherished and respected. Pearson crank, 604CC barrel and head. RRT2 box, Eddie Dow brake etc. etc!

Very cool. Seems an obscure model, to me, at least. Only reference I found (looking for 10 minutes) was this: https://books.google.com/books?id=UfoDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA14&lpg=PA14&dq=bsa+sportsman+motorcycle&source=bl&ots=0OTLyvyqxH&sig=9brFwYwqw2XvcO0vyUSpakhniM4&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjKj8KAy-vYAhXhmOAKHc9DB2M4ChDoAQgXMAY

What year is it? By this article, it seems like, maybe, '58-'60.

Life is too short to resist such temptation.

Richard L ...... It's one man's idea of a 'special'. B31 frame and other parts from, or similar to, Gold Star. I think the 'Sportsman' transfers were to give it a bit of identity, rather than leave the side panels blank. It looks and sounds gorgeous, and all the work seems to have been carried out meticulously. I have only ridden it in a cul-de-sac but if feels sweet. It has Boyer ignition and a Newby clutch and belt drive as well as the other obvious goodies.

That would be an expensive special to build.
It looks wonderful.
Is the engine DBD34 or made up from various parts?
