Wanted: E3L Dyno Body w or w/out field coil
« on: 10.01. 2018 16:20 »
Hi folks,

Am looking for anyone with Paypal who has a useable E3L body, ideal part number would be the correct A7SS/A10   Lucas #20009 E3L1-0-0 I believe, for delivery by post to my UK shipping agent. If it has field coils, fine. Have or can get the rest of the bits and have a  NOS armature. The part will be replated so I am not worried about external looks though ends must be true, peg dowels in place if possible. I have one but someone bashed the end faces with a hammer at some time, maybe using it as a tool!

Thanks

Number should be 20010.
20009 is for Triumph & AMC twins commonly.

Hi Peter

I might have one here. It needs a rebuild.
I'm mulling over the rebuild vs switch to Alton and 12 volts.
Shipping might be the issue( Canada)

The yoke must be the same though.

I have seen a Dyno with BSA type endcap ( the "German helmet") on  google images with the exact 2009-E1-0-0 on it. It's the body, i.e. the steel sylinder I am looking for, I don't need any of the rest unless its a mangy old thing with filed coils and other bits. It's for my own  rebuild.

Here is a very similar one.. it does not have to be 100% correct for a BSA http://www.davelindsley.co.uk/assets/images/Dynamo1_000.jpg

Here is one such. I need it from UK as I have a transhipment of spares coming to Africa soon.

If anyone has body or body + filed coil or other useless dyno of the right type around, I will happily buy if the price is right

The correct one would be perfect but there is no material difference between some, it's just that Lucas had diff partnos for different makes.

As long as it's a two screw dyno body I dont mind if it's risted or tarnished...

As a matter of interest, the body you want for 1959 is 20036 (or 20035, I don't have the book in front of me.)
This type of generator is the one with the metal end cap and internal connections.
The bodies are all interchangeable.

Hi Trevinoz - I have the full Lucas 1936-1957 bike parts catalogue - '57's were body 20010 but I really don't think it matters, those were just bike codes. the E3LM  body will fit any of the armatures and I have the right one.

Now if I can just get a decent scrap E3LM body!

Peter I have as many as anyone would want but the postage to Africa would be pretty stiff.

Thanks Trevinoz, either a shame or a blessing your gorgeous country is so far away!

Gota whole gennie on ebay.com complete and good nick last nite from ebay usa..$US52...........not bad. Easier to get to Africa from there than NZ,a place I would love to visit. I hear a bike trip through the South Island is remarkable.
