Moved last March and finally sold the other house today! Last week, installed a pellet stove for heat in my shop and replaced the really drafty door, so I can finally keep it warm enough to work in there. 3 bikes ahead of getting back to the A10. #1-ordering a replacement carb for the SR500, now that I can have some money for bike stuff. Easy job, just need to pay for it.#2-finish rewiring the Velocette. Bought a harness, but without an intact original to work from more difficult than it should be just to figure how it should lay out on the bike. My multimeter is getting a workout. Then learn to start it! #3 fix the oil sucking right cylinder on the Commando. Should have all these done before summer, then it's back onto the A10. The biggest (most expensive) jobs for that will be refreshing a magneto and a generator. Should be easy enough after that, wiring, fitting a drive chain, replacing tires.

I started the year with a plan. Finally sorting the brakes on the SA and installing that cylinder head I have on the shelf for about three years now
I rolled the bike on the lift and took the rear wheel out and lifted the cylinder head.
Have you lads ever wished that you didn't do something you just did?
That feeling came upon me when I noticed deep scratches in both cylinder walls. *problem*
Time for a rebore and new pistons I guess. First measurements showed that it's on his first rebore so luckily there's some room left.
I then turned my attention to the rear wheel. I wondered that the brake judder may not have been caused by overtensioned spokes so I grabbed a spanner and started loosening some spokes. In doing so, one of the spoke nipples shot through the rim hole. Closer inspection showed that there where some more on the edge of passing through...  *pull hair out*
All this already and I haven't even started looking at the front wheel yet!
Time and money urgently needed...!  *countdown*
Apart from that I have a feeling it's going to be a fantastic year.  *whistle*

I know you didn't need this aggro Morris but better to find out now, rather than many miles from home, or in the case of the spokes while you were hammering down the highway.

That's just the bikes. Also a Fiat X1/9 that needs a transmission (picking up a parts car in March) and a Jeep Cherokee in need of a rear differential. Don't want to get bored!

Becoming overwhelmed by dead bikes I decided to have my local shop sort the Hardley. Moved all the bikes around Sunday ready for them to be able to pick it up off my plot today. Now lost the keys so it is stuck in the car-port with the steering lock on going nowhere.

Can’t even get that right.

My new years resolution was NOT to make any new years resolutions. But I need a kick you the back side to make progress on the matchless G80 which has languished in bits untouched for two year. So buy end of year to have at least a rolling chassis and the large machanical lumps ready to go in so I can ride it in 2019.

Follow up on New Year's resolutions: fixed the Jeep Cherokee (wasn't on the list). Got the new carb on the SR500, big difference there! Just got back from a test ride and the Velocette is good to go, just needs new tires (ordered), registration and insurance (Monday). Norton head is at a friends shop getting new valves and guides, fresh rings on order. With luck and a set of tires she's good to go. Fixed the kickstart on the T100 Daytona (hm, that wasn't on my list either). Started messing with the A10 seat mounting and installed a drive chain, but now the kickstart is locked up. Guess I need to have a look in the tranny. Shifts okay, so thought I might be able to free it up by rocking the wheel with it in gear, but no such luck. Not bad for less than 3 months into the year!

Got the bottom end back together for the Piecrust Racer. Been making various tweaks to the Loop since I got the g/box back and reinstalled. First rally is on the clocks change weekend in just a few weeks now. Sportster has been at the local emporium long enough that I daren’t ring to find how it’s going there now.
