Is there an ammeter fitted? What is it indicating?

I'm not sure I can rely on the Ammeter's reading...

 but some have a little waggly pointy thing
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

 The only thing stopping it losing more charge is the glass- it's on the serious discharge side, so Houston- we may have a problem *eek*

 keep in mind it is probably a Positive (+ve ) earth system (as standard)
