Hi Iain
I know how you feel mate, having but the Bonnie and the A65T from Basket cases it can drive you mental!
For me having had bikes for years and coming from a Bike background i "Assumed" (dont ever do that) That it was obvious that part A would fit part B, I mean there all A10's there all standard BSA parts, but the miriad of variations is unbelieveable!
On the Positive side you do learn an awful lot about bikes! and i thought i knew british bikes....
I have learnt the hard way for example all the differences between the Rocket Gold Star and the Road Rocket! Yes the single sided Goldie rear hub will fit on the swinging arm "BUT" .... Those fork shrouds will fit "BUT" i could go on but i dont need to tell you!
Sometimes i think Bugger i'll just build it as a Road Rocket!
I do have a Lathe (if i can find it) it is a small model makers lathe but it has been quite useful, i do ponder if it would be worth buying a bigger one for the times that i have used it. Its one of those things isnt it, you only use it now and again but dam handy when you have one.
BTW my labour of love at the moment is my workshop (oh eerr and the Garden, Her in doors is fed up with it looking like a building side, so am i to be honest). I have built a big workshop at the bottom of the garden that i have been dry lining, all the walls done now, just the roof, then the electrics etc, trouble is it instantly got filled with all the rubbish out of the garden Decking timber so on so forth, so as thats gradually going as i finish the garden. Light at the end of the tunnel now!
Then i'll be able to work on my bikes again.
Good luck with the spindle! i have all that to come... At present as i cant get to the bikes to work on im just gathering parts for the rebuild!
Regards
Steve
